Surface Treatment
Surface treatment
Structuring: The surface of the parquet is worked with special brushes. The final surface is created by brushing away the softer, looser parts of the wood to a defined depth. This process further accentuates the natural grain and pattern of the wood. The surface remains open (vessels and pores are not sealed), so natural, open-filled knots in the wood are also visible.
Beveling: The edges of the parquet planks are beveled at a 30-degree angle on either two longitudinal or all four edges, creating a V-shaped groove at the joints when installed, which corresponds to the size of the bevel.
Whitewashing: The grooves created during the structuring process are filled with a white substance, resulting in the final surface. The surface remains open (vessels and pores are not sealed), allowing the visibility of small, open knots and imperfections in the wood.
Silk Matt Lacquer: The most common surface treatment method, creating a closed-pore, scratch- and wear-resistant surface that is easy to clean. It consists of seven layers of lacquer.
Matt Lacquer (closed-pore): A less glossy lacquer finish that closely resembles the natural appearance of the wood. Like the silk matte lacquer, it is durable and easy to maintain.
Oil-effect Matt Lacquer (open-pore): A lacquer treatment that further highlights the natural pattern of the wood. The surface remains open (vessels and pores are not sealed), revealing smaller, open, cracked knots in the wood.
Staining: Staining allows for a change in the wood’s color, enhancing or equalizing its natural tones. It alters the color of the surface without covering the wood’s grain.
Pre-oiled: A natural oil surface treatment process that gives the wood a natural appearance, enhancing its grain and texture. No further oiling is needed after installation. With regular maintenance, the original look is preserved for years. The surface remains open (vessels and pores are not sealed), so smaller open knots in the natural wood are also visible.
Unfinished: A surface that has been finely sanded and prepared, which can be further treated after installation according to the customer's preference (oiling, staining, lacquering).
Reinforced Lacquer: Recommended for areas with higher traffic (offices, communal spaces), offering a more durable, wear-resistant surface.
Sports Lacquer: This coating meets the requirements of the EN 14904 standard. Due to its special properties, the sports lacquer prevents accidents caused by slippery surfaces and also avoids injuries due to overly sticky surfaces.
Fire-resistant Lacquer: Parquet treated with this surface system belongs to the Cfl-s1 fire resistance class, making it suitable for use in areas with high fire-resistance requirements.
